Service · AC Unit Recycling

Every AC unit.
Refrigerant recovered. The rest recycled.

We are the only EPA 608 certified refrigerant recovery facility in Western Mass. That means the refrigerant comes out before anything else happens.

§ Process

How it actually gets broken down.

  1. 01

    Pickup, refrigerant intact

Window units, dehumidifiers, and small commercial AC travel upright with their refrigerant charge sealed. We never crush a charged unit.

  2. 02

    EPA 608 recovery

A certified technician recovers the refrigerant per 40 CFR Part 82 using calibrated recovery equipment. Recovery is logged per unit.

  3. 03

    Refrigerant routed

Recovered refrigerant is shipped to a licensed reclaimer to be cleaned and re-sold or destroyed. None of it vents to atmosphere.

  4. 04

    Compressor pulled

The compressor is cut out and drained of oil. Oil goes to a used-oil recycler; the compressor casing joins the steel stream.

  5. 05

    Coils separated

Copper and aluminum coils are cut, sorted, and sold as clean scrap. The high recovery rate is why we never let units get crushed first.

  6. 06

    Plastics and steel

Housing, fans, and chassis are sorted by material and recycled. The fiberglass insulation is captured and routed separately.

  7. 07

    Certificate, on request

Property managers and commercial customers can request a per-unit recovery certificate for compliance records.
