§ Process

How it actually gets broken down.

  1. 01

    Foam separated

Polyurethane, memory foam, and latex layers are pulled out by hand and baled. Foam goes on to carpet underlay and acoustic insulation.

  2. 02

    Springs reclaimed

The steel innerspring unit is cut from the wood frame. Coils are bundled and sold as scrap steel for re-melting.

  3. 03

    Wood frame recovered

The wooden box-spring frame is broken down. Lumber goes to mulch and biomass. Staples and nails are pulled and added to the metals stream.

  4. 04

    14 material streams

Cotton padding, ticking, felt pads, plastic ties, and adhesives each have their own destination. Roughly 80 percent of a typical mattress is recovered.

  5. 05

    Proof, on request

Ask for a certificate. We will email a per-pickup summary showing how much was diverted and where each stream went.

§ FAQ

Common questions.

No. Massachusetts banned mattresses and box springs from trash disposal in November 2022 under the MassDEP waste ban, so curbside trash and dumpsters are not an option. We pick them up door-to-door and recycle them at our permitted facility in Adams, MA.

Mattress, box spring, or topper pickup is a flat $58.30 per piece (every mattress size is the same price), with a $40.00 minimum per pickup. That number includes pickup, transport, disassembly, and certified recycling. There are no added fees at the curb.

It is torn down by hand into 14 material streams. Foam is baled for carpet underlay and insulation, steel springs are re-melted as scrap, and the wood frame becomes mulch and biomass. Roughly 80 percent of a typical mattress is recovered.

Yes. Wet, torn, stained, or broken mattresses are all fine. The only exceptions are biohazard mattresses and active bed bug infestations, which need prior notice so the crew can handle them safely.
